McCullers & Whitaker is proud to announce that attorney Joseph Hamer has joined the firm. Joe’s practice will focus on real estate law and general civil litigation. Joe serves as the managing attorney in the firm’s Johnston County office, located at 205 Main Street in Clayton.

Joe completed his undergraduate studies at Barton College and graduated from the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. Joe is a lifelong Clayton resident

Attorney Damion L. McCullers Receives NCCU Distinquished Alumni Award.

In a ceremony held on Saturday, March 24, 2012, Attorney Damion L. McCullers was honored by his undergraduate alma mater, North Carolina Central University. The NCCU Criminal Justice Department presented Damion with its Distinguished Alumni Award.

Damion graduated from NCCU in 2000 with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice before entering law school at the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University.

To date, Attorney Josh Whitaker has received no such award from the North Carolina State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences, an oversight the firm is confident will be rectified sooner than later.

Attorney Josh Whitaker, a founding partner of the law firm, recently took time to speak at two Continuing Legal Education classes.

On March 13, 2012, Josh spoke in front of approximately 150 North Carolina paralegals regarding real estate transactions involving short sales, bank-owned real estate and foreclosure. Josh centered his discussion around the pitfalls and practical considerations a law firm should be prepared to contend with when closing a real estate purchase transaction involving these special circumstances.

On March ,22, 2012, Josh spoke to a crowd of approximately 75 attorneys and paralegals at the North Carolina Bar Association headquarters in Cary, as a part of a 2-day CLE event. Josh again focused his discussion on the practical considerations of a closing attorney when dealing with real property that has been foreclosed upon, short sales and bank-owned real property.

Damion L. McCullers Selected by Wake County Attorneys as a Candidate for Appointment as District Court Judge.

On March 27, 2012, lawyers from across Wake County cast their votes in a special election to determine which three applicants for a soon-to-be available District Court Judge seat would be considered by Governor Beverly Perdue. Special elections of this type are held when a sitting District Court Judge retires before the end of their term. Wake County lawyers met at the North Carolina Bar Association headquarters in Cary, North Carolina to vote on a roster of applicants. Damion McCullers was one of three attorneys selected. Damion McCuller’s name will be forwarded to Governor Beverly Perdue for her consideration. The Governor has final say in which attorney will be appointed to the open seat.

The law firm of McCullers & Whitaker is happy to announce that its Garner office has relocated to 216 US Highway 70 West. As part of the move, McCullers & Whitaker has added several new attorneys as well as new office support staff.

McCullers & Whitaker is a full service law firm founded in 2004 with offices located in Garner, Raleigh and Chapel Hill. With the recent purchase of the real property located at 216 US Highway 70 West, the firm now has a 5,000 square-foot office building to call home.
